Hi there!! SO Motchi is doing so much better. His/her eye is open and clear!! I do have a question. I received my reptisun t8 uvb light tube in the mail finally!!! It got delayed a couple days but it made it! My question is can i use an under cabinet fixture from walmart or homedepot or menards as long as the wattage matches? Does it have to say T8 on the package? I cant seem to find one that says anything about T8 but i can find them that match the wattages

Please get a fixture w/ a reflector - the home Depot Menards etc under counter do not have reflectors- you want and need a reflector for your dragon - the reflector directs the uvb rays downwards to him benefitting him - the T 8 fixture needs to have no clear plastic cover over the bulb and will need to go into the tank directly over the basking decor 6-8 inches- if you need more help please ask
What length is the bulb? Is it a 18" - they come in different lengths -this fixture will hold a 24" bulb but not a 18" - you can check your pet stores most carry a fixture for the 18" --- Zoo Med ReptiSun T8 Terrarium Hood
You can take the screen off or set the uvb width wise across the tank on one end then butt the screen up to the uvb fixture w/ the basking bulb next to it- I can post a pic of my 20 gallon tomorrow-

What's your thoughts on an MVB bulb? Does it actually work for all the needs such as uvb and a heat lamp while only needing one bulb? For a 20 gal tank

I would keep what you have now-- with mvb's we always recommend another uvb source - most times mvb's are great for heat not so much uvb- your going to need to upgrade your tank to a bigger one in less than a year and a 75-120 gallon is recommended for an adult dragon-- and your uvb will also need to be upgraded as well - from the T 8 to a T 5
Yes, so sorry I should have been a little more clear on the lighting!
That's great your light finally got there & Motchi is feeling better! As Karrie has suggested, the MVB's are safer when
used with larger tanks. I have always used MVB's in combination with tube bulbs for a better light dispersement & so
there is more variety of areas for basking, etc. For now, the T8 will be fine. Just be sure it is place properly for him.
I hope your boy is doing better & his eye is doing well. Does he seem to like it?
