Hi, all -- my baby pooped in the bath today and strained at the end, pushing out a tiny bit of blood. I inspected his vent area and found this:
I'm not sure what the small, white crescent-shaped thing poking out of his vent is. It's soft and he doesn't seem to react abnormally to it being touched (he doesn't like it much like he doesn't generally like having his tail lifted up and his butt touched). Is this normal or is this a prolapse?
It doesn't look like any internal tissue is sticking out, so that's good. If he was straining a bit, it may be some pressure on the skin around the vent. It could possibly turn into a prolapse if he keep straining. I'd offer plenty of water and some softer foods for a while to make things a bit easier for him.
