Can someone tell me what this may be from, the little guy hatched out with it (a week ago). We got a few eggs from a friend of mine after his bearded dragon laid 4 fertile and the rest were no good so I figured it would be a good idea for my 4th grade class to grow up with the little guys.I have had my 4 adult beardies for 5 years and I havent seen anything like it, It doesn't look like shed or stuck shed and I have tried soaking but it looks to be getting worse. Any advice before we make a vet apt would be appreciated!
That is very hard to tell from the pictures, but does look a bit different from just a regular
shed. How long has it looked this way?
Have you given him a bath to see if that helps out? You can get some aloe vera gel to put on
it to see if that helps, but also get some anti-fungal cream like monistat or lamisil cream or
spray to put on it proactively.
A vet can do a skin scraping to culture it to determine whether or not a fungus is present.
How is his appetite doing?
Hi Tracie!
He/she eats pretty well! I separated the little guy a couple of days ago so I have been able to keep an eye on his food intake and activity, and he seems normal! our vet told us to try vetericyn plus (what we spray on our chickens and calves) since it is less harsh so I have been using that for the last day and a half but I will def try what you mentioned! he is a week old today actually and has looked like that from day one!
That does look a bit different to me as well. I'd probably have a skin test done just to determine exactly what you're dealing with and treat it early if needed. Hopefully it's just an odd looking shed though.
