usually when i put out my beardie in her sun bathing enclouse, she sit there all day, spreads out and enjoys the sun. but lately when i have been putting her in there, she's been going straight for the rock hide and what i've noticed, she doesn't come out till i take her out. i have also tried removing the rock, but then she'll hide under the napkins that are currently present. i was just wondering if maybe i'm putting her outside to often. i've never had this problem with past beardies. i live in california, so when i say often, i mean 5 out of 7 days
I'd be worried she is scared of something, or there is something about the enclosure she doesn't like. Is there something that's changed, or noisy animals around? Birds?
Is it possible she is getting too warm? Or too cold?
They can't really get too much UV from the sun, and if she has a place to get away, she should be ok. It's likely they can see UVB and if their body says they have gotten enough, they will regulate exposure similar to the way they do with heat.
She's just in a wood and screen enclosure. It's not that hot in Cali right now so it's not getting that hot inside. It's well ventilated, screen all around. It's not made to keep heat. Just some UV
