Hi i'm wondering is my beardie obese?? some times he even looks really skinny he is 1 year and 7 months old, 18 and a half inches long weighs 445 grams
These 3 he looks a bit tubby he only really looks like this when he goes to eat no matter wither he has to chase it or not he always goes like this??
Then these he looks really skinny see what i mean when he isn't eating or goes to eat this is how he looks really skinny then he goes all tubby when he is eating or goes to eat like in the first pics?? I need some advice please i'm really not sure what to make of it.
Thanks
The difference I believe is in the way he is standing - his posture. In the later pics he is standing up more than in the earlier pics where he is compressed eating and his belly looks to be hanging more. I think he is a normal weight for his length and he looks really good. His tail is nice and fat at the base, which is desirable, and he has nice fat pads on his head. I would keep doing what you are doing!
Hi, thank you for your reply i didn't think he was obese but it's always nice to have a second opinion, thanks i will keep doing what i'm doing , i don't know if you know but is he a good size as in length for his age or a bit small i measured him again today and he is defiantly 18 and a half inches long tip of his nose to tip of his tail?
Thanks
I think he is on the smaller side of normal, but he is not abnormally small by any means. If he were my dragon I would be happy with his size. We have a 3 year old female who is 18" long and 750 grams! Our year old male is 20.5" and 508 grams. I also have a female who is 10 months old and 17" and 406 grams. So they can be many different sizes and still be healthy.
hmm ok that's good to know i always thought he was a little on the small side, i thought back long he might still grow but now i think he might not now as i guess he has got to that age where they stop growing maybe
