Hi I'm Carla,
This is my first day on this site, and I'm looking for a little bit of advice, I have a 12 week old bearded dragon called spike, I've never owned one before, so I'm very new to reptiles, but I must say I'm totally in love with the little fella. This morning he has done a poop which was perfectly formed but I noticed a grayish mucus on it, and was a little smelly. In himself he seems absolutely fine, running round the vivarium, eating he seems very happy. The Temps in his vivarium are all fine too any advice would be appreciated
Hi Carla, there can be a variation in how the poo looks from time to time. Probably nothing to worry about but when he gets a bit older + bigger you might have a fecal test done by an experienced reptile vet to check for parasites if the poos look worrisome. He's probably fine though.
Well after I wrote my post this morning I've since noticed that he has started to shred, could this be anything to do with it? Because like I said he is perfectly happy otherwise.
Shedding usually doesn't have any effect on poop, but I agree with AHBD -- a little mucus in the poop is normal and usually not a cause for concern especially if he seems ok otherwise as you said, but if you're worried you can always take a sample to a vet for testing.
