I got my bearded dragon from Petco 5 weeks ago. He wasn't on display with the rest of the bearded dragons. They told me it was because he was a too good of an eater, and wasn't leaving anything for the other dragons. And I got him for 75% off because he was older than they usually sell them at (probably because he wasn't on display).
Anyway, he was 11 inches long when I got him. I asked how old and they weren't sure, but said probably a couple months. Based on what I read online, I guessed he was at least 3 months old.
Fast forward five weeks, and he is now 15.5 inches long. Wow! He's growing way faster than I expected (which is a good thing)! Is this rate of growth normal?
Hi there, that is pretty big for his age. It is definitely on the higher end of the average sizes. My fastest grower was 18" before he hit 4 months, the fastest I ever saw in 20 years of owning + raising beardies.
