I've had my Bearded Dragon, Norbert, for about 2 months now and he doesn't really seem to do much. I work at a computer most of the day and he will just sit on the corner of his basking platform as close to me as possible watching me all day long. I take him out to play and he just wants to sleep on me and we go outside pretty much daily but he just wants to sit on me then too. Whenever I put him back in his tank he returns to his perch to watch me. Sometimes he will go sit underneath his basking platform (which is still in the corner right next to me) and he will watch me from there. He only ever interrupts this watching to eat his veggies or drink. I'm new at owning a bearded dragon so I'm wondering is this normal behavior??? He is watching me right now as I type this.
additional info:
his UVB is the reptisun 10.0, his basking light is the exo terra 75 watt
his basking temperature is at 106 degrees right now, his cool side is 80 degrees, he probably eats about 8-10 crickets a day (which also seems kind of low compared to what I've been reading) and he is fed a mixture of carrots and turnip greens
Haha mine is just the same, he's sleeps alot after I give him bath or when he crawls into my hoodie. My beardie normally sleep when I pick him up later in the day, (proably because when he sleep in his dig box I have an old torn piece of fabric that has my scent on it). But it's pretty normal in my eyes.
Unless he's sleeping all the time in his box, when you take him out and he just wants to find a spot to sleep. Have you ever thought that he might be going into Burmation??
I have read about that but he is only 8 months old. Is that normal? I thought they started brumation when they were older? He just hardly ever walks period unless its to switch between his perch and his cave.
Do you ever get him out and let him roam around? Or give him a bath? I mean, they don't do much. I've never heard of one doing tricks or anything  ! But, mine will run around the house if I let him. Then he finds either a shoe to climb in, or he will go to the corner of the room, dig, then lay down and sleep! Lol! I've heard some will swim. Mine doesn't.
Norbert sounds like a sweet little guy that really likes you! My Pip (4 mo) is a "people watcher". I'd like to think it reflects his intelligence... And it is kinda flattering, don't you think?
You're wise to ask if Norbert's behavior is concerning you but I hope it's just that he's pretty happy to be part of your family.
I take him out to play around the house but he usually just sits there and stares at us. I tried taking him outside to explore the other day but he hated it. He sat in the grass and puffed up. I guess he just really likes sitting. Thanks for all of your help! He is my first bearded dragon so I could just be a little paranoid. I want him to be very happy!
