Hey everyone, I am wondering if my beardie is too small? He is about a yr and a half and is very active and eats a lot. Recently I went over to a friends house who owns two beardies the same age as mine and they look like they could eat mine!!! He seems perfectly healthy and happy i am just wondering if his size is normal for his age. Here are some pics of him!!

I will measure him and weigh him when I get home from school. His cage is a little different right now since i changed his flooring and changed some things around but what do you see wrong with it?
The enclosure looks to be quite small, preferably once they reach 12 months of age you need to put them into an enclosure thats at least 75 gallons (48x18x20). Anything smaller just doesn't do it for these lizards and even 75 gallons is a bit on the small side, most prefer 120 gallons (4x2x2).
40's and 50's are too short in length and 55 gallons are way too narrow.
From what I see the hides are way too small, and it somewhat looks like your using sand which shouldn't be used.
Your also using a red light which is a big no as they can see that and it can be quite bothersome and even damaging over time.

Hi, his enclosure is actually an 80 gallon tank ( I am working on getting a bigger one at the moment) but I can see how it looks small in the picture! Also I do have bigger hides I have put in there before but he just never used them and prefers to hide in one that can’t be seen in the picture. Also his flooring is cardboard not sand (easy to clean) And I will change his basking lamp after work tonight! Thank you!!!
Can you weigh him once a week and track the weights …. he's a nice looking and happy looking little boy …. and has about another of growth in him ,
my gang over the years
Peppa (current girl) was 466g at 1st BD, 780g at 2nd bd.
Toothless was 345g at 1st bd , made it his 2nd bd and 546g .
Rex was 420g at her 1st bd, topped out at 640g .
Puff was 423g at his 1st bd and topped out at 630g.
Should be on 1 feed of bugs per day + daily salad (ensure greens are high calcium) from 1 yr old .
At about that their 1st bd I upgraded my beardies hides to jumbo sized Hubbahuts (be sure to pull ALL the staples out of them - they are a nail snag hazard and if left with one out can easy disembowel a lizard when crawling over it (I've seen the results on another board - very nasty !). Peppa is so tall she could do with an even bigger hide long !!
I think he'll benefit from an upgrade to a timber tank with sliding glass front doors which is 4ft L x 2ft W x at least 18" tall very soon , especially when his hormones start kicking in.
