Hey guys ! My name is Kenny . I could really use an opinion on my baby beardies charmander . I have two , charmander and V.I.P but charmander is the beardie in question .

I think she might be exhibiting stargazing . I’ll share pictures along with the question . She ate maybe two crickets since I’ve gotten her two days ago . I just installed a better linear uvb 10.0 and that seemed to get her moving around more and she ate a little bit of the mixed vegetables I chopped and mixed for her but she will do this think where she will bask on her two front legs and will kind of look up like you see in the pictures I’ll be sharing along with this post .

I’m worried she might be stargazing and really need opinions from people who know a lot more about bearded dragons than I do currently . I’ve done tons of research frantically the last 24 hours . Hoping you guys can help me out .

He is a year and 3 months old. Thank you! I had my tank custom made by the owner of Avalon Exotics (local reptile store). It is bioactive...well, it would be MORE bioactive if he didnt keep digging up and killing his plants lol.
Sounds like he’s a bearded through and through lol . He’s a big and fierce boy, what’s his diet like ? Right now v.i.p is eating about 6 crickets a feeding I’m not sure if I should feed her more than that though ? She seems to want more after having 6 though but just don’t want to over feed .

I’ve owned a nile monitor and a Savannah monitor while I lived in Florida . Always wanted a bearded so I figured I’d finally get a couple . I’m interested in making a bioactive tank but I don’t have the confidence...

Hello,

I would agree, your lighting is great for him.
He is a tiny one. They do take a little time to
adjust to a new home. Larger tanks can be
overwhelming to them, so putting him in a smaller one for a short period of time can help.
Charmander is a great name, too!
You are using a T8 tube bulb for her? To me, it doesn't appear she is stargazing.
Let us know how she is doing.

Tracie
Hey Tracie ! So yes I’m running a T8 right now unobstructed . About to order two 50 gallon tanks for them (36x18x18) would that be a good move ? Figured it will save me from doing it down the line .

Also guys she is eating veggies and I got her to drink using the method you guys recommended ! So happy for her ! She’s getting more active . Going to get some probes today for both enclosures to get a more active read on the basking temps . The air temps in charmander is about 95-97 between the two different thermometers I have . Right now the humidity is reading at 24 for charmander tank . And 20 exactly for v.i.p’s tanks .

But she’s starting to eat and drink so the recommendations worked fantastically! So happy she is starting to get a little more active and show some fight in her ! I really appreciate you all ! I will keep you posted as the day goes on .

Just a thought--what size are the crickets? She doesn't look like she's very big, and if the crickets are too large for her, that might be a reason she is ignoring them.
They are regular size . She’s aten one or two when I first got her . But that’s a good thought. Going to go and get some smaller insects and see how that goes. . What do you recommend?

Id use small crickets for a little baby. I still feed Kai medium crickets sometimes although hes a year old and can do large also.
Hey yea so update . I’ve been nursing her water all day she will take it then not take it but her activity level is seeing a big improvement !

So she ate two normal sized crickets today and I left another in there in case she wants to take to it . But progress is progress right ? Going to move to smaller insects would the blue fairy work thingys work ?
She looks wonderful!
she looks good right ? She goes crazy when she sees her crickets 😂 just trying to get her to eat more greens as I feel she’s starting to prefer her love snacks more . But she’s eating a good portion of both ! She’s getting real good at tracking and hunting her food . Literally dove on a cricket earlier from her vine 😂 a proud bearded dad to say the least !

Ill keep you guys updated on charmander . Been working with her all day . She’s starting to eat a little bit ore and getting more active . Hoping once I have her in a bigger tank she will come around more . Just nervous about refining her into a bigger tank so soon where she’s still not used to the one she’s in fully .

some bearded dragons prefer to sleep on the cool side, mine switches his sleeping spot a lot.
Ok good . Yea sue mentioned the same . Now I can rest assured . Really appreciate all the advice and support . I’m a bit of an overthinker, just want to give my my reptile kids the best life possible and keep them happy . She’s coming around though . Will post some videos tomorrow . Would love to see some of you guy’s beardies !

I agree with @Sue E. Small or maybe maybe even pin head if you can get them. Black soldier fly larvae would be a good option also as would baby dubia roaches.
Going to see if the local place I found has any of the ones you mentioned . They have the best conditioned live feeders I’ve found in my area . Everywhere else they are half dead or look sluggish . Want to feed them healthy ones only and I am avoiding feeding them dead feed, from the research I’ve done I’ve heard it’s not good to feed them dead insects .
