I got a baby beardie about a week ago from Petsmart. She (i'm pretty sure it's a she) was the smallest of all the babies, laying in the water bowl, and nearly black. AT night she turned almost pure white, and layer on the whitest part of her newspaper substrate. I've looked up dwarf dragons and to me she looks like them, she has the right patterns, is dark, small, likes water, and has a similar head shape. But I really couldn't find much on dwarfs, so any insight from ya'll would be appreciated.
Thanks http://s1057.photobucket.com/albums/t393/ausedname65714/?action=view¤t=IMG_2934.jpg
i honestly don't know. when she starts growing you might know more. then you'll see the shape of her head more clearly. i'm pretty sure we got one from a petsmart too. she grew much slower than mr dargon and looked completely different. but she didn't survive, she didn't look too healthy when we got her. (as much as i stated that at the store my husband still wanted her)
Ok, thanks. And she is a little sweetheart. She glass dances like crazy but if you pick her up she won't move for half an hour. I'm a proud mommy.
I'll check into the meds. Should I get some for my leopard gecko too? I got her from Petsmart but I've had her for about 5 months now.
it's for all small lizards. and you only give a few drops. it comes with a syringe too.
i got it for mr dargon b/c he was showing signs of a respiratory infection. he looks much better now and is going nuts tearing his cage a part  so i think it worked...
Wow, she's really pretty! I love the ones with a ton of color but on the other hand I also really like the very dark ones too. I wonder if anyone's ever tried to create a line of black dragons...?
She's a cutie pie, like all the babies are ! Definitely not a Rankin's though. And a dwarf dragon is not the same as a Rankin's, a dwarf Pogona Vitticeps has a short stubby and very chubby body with no neck. There's a big difference. EDIT....some people do call the Rankin's a dwarf, then there is Pogona Minor that is also called dwarf. Yours looks like a very small vitticeps.
I too bought our first dragon from petsmart and it was the smallest one very dark and very active. but after the first 2 weeks she started to act funny and ended up at the vet for what we thought was dehydration and she ended up dying .turns out she had some parasites. being it was our first and she was so active and eating we did not know until it was too late. but the vet told us sometimes the signs don't show until it is too late.
Now i am not saying that will happen to yours just be careful and watch her. ( the breeder replaced ours and she was teeny tiny when we got her and is now 4m and growing and doing great)
Yah, I heard that too. It doesn't look like mine has a beard but I could be wrong. It's hard to tell because she's so tiny. I have a friend that has a beardie that looks almost exactly like her, but her's is lighter and an adult. But her's is only about a foot or so. They have the same pattern and face shape. Maybe they're both hybrids?
And if she isn't a Rankin's why does she have that double row of spots? In all the pictures I've seen of so called 'rankin's' they have that double row of spots and a V shape on their head.
I was looking through pics on the internet when I came across a pic of an eastern beardie. I thought it looked a little bit like mine so i searched eastern bearded dragon pics. Almost all of them look like her. I don't know if i'm mistaken again but to me she really looks like the dragons in those pictures.

Bought our scaley baby at PetSmart and had the exact thing happen. Full of parasites and low calcium. Went to the vet 2weeks after we brought him home and 2 visits, 2 rounds of meds, syringe feeding for a week and $150 later, we had saved our baby beardie! PetSmart did end up reimbursing us for the entire vet bill, but we were sooooo scared we were going to lose him!
Your little one is very unique with the really dark colors! Black beauty!
