Hello! I currently have a 3 month old beardie and I’ve been weighing him about once a week just to get an idea if he’s in a good size range. When I first got him he was about 5 grams and after having him for a little over a month he’s currently 15 grams, so he basically tripled his weight in a month, but I’ve been hearing that 3 month old beardies should be at least 20 to 30 grams at that age and I’ve just been stressing out wondering if he’s underweight for his age. Thank you
Dragons grow at their own rate -- but good lighting and basking temps are key here -- please tell us what your using for a UVB NO coils please and basking temps what are they and how are you taking them NO stick ons please they are inaccurate

Good UVB - where is it placed? The basking spot is too hot- you really don't want it over 110 and temp needs to be taken w/ a digital probe thermometer

It’s placed in the back left corner behind the basking bulb. And I’ll make sure to lower the heat. I’m glad I got a dimmer for the bulb lol. And as for the temp reading, I’ll definitely try to get the probe thermometer but is the temperature gun not good? I read that as long as you’re not getting the temps through one of those stick-on thermometers it should be accurate enough. Thanks in advance
Yes the ir gun is good however ir guns can get thrown off by certain materials like hammocks you need a probe on hand so you can set it on the spot where he is basking--- and cross reference- the screen on your tank is a fine mesh or a wide holed screen-- if it's a fine screen like a screen door it needs to be inside the tank w/ a distance of 12-15 inches-- directly above the basking decor-- or wide holed screen 8-10 inches directly above the basking decor

Ok, thank you for the info! His basking spot is under a wood log/hide, also I did a DIY top cover that allows the uvb to be mounted inside the tank so at least that isn’t a problem. Is there a specific feeder that you would recommend to help him grow a little bit faster? His current staple feeders are crickets, phoenix worms/bfl and waxworms. Thanks
Please lay off the wax worms - they are too fatty and can cause liver issues down the road- the BSFL and the crickets are good - I would switch him over to dubia roaches and get some small super worms - I would use the BSFL as salad toppers use as many as you want and you will need a glass or ceramic bowl so they cant get out of -- you can add silk worms as well they are another great staple feeder -- I will get some websites posted here for you http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html ignore the kale thing its a good staple feeder
you want to feed salad first thing in the morning and add your BSFL on top of the salad in front of him the movement will get his attention http://www.symptonbsf.com http://www.reptilianart.com dont get supers from here unless you have a container to keep them in and a lid w/ holes and food -- they come in a butcher paper in a gunny sack http://www.dubiaroaches.com this place is great for roaches and worms - they have small supers along w/ horn worms which they normally send smalls which is good - they grow really fast they are a great hydrating worm - you would need to feed them pretty fast - add those to the salads as well http://www.coastalsilkworms.com http://www.mulberryfarms.com spendy on shipping but they are the only place I know that has butter worms http://www.aafeeder.com they have bundle packs stay away from meal worms - they are too harsh on babies stomachs

I wish my beardie would eat dubias. He used to when he was with the breeder but for some reason he refuses them and will gladly take a cricket or bsfl right after being offered a dubia. I’ll definitely try putting his bsfl on a salad since he’s been giving me a hard time with veggies. But in your opinion 15 grams is an okay weight for him? It’s just been stressing me out a little bit.
