hello! recently i had bought the wrong kind of bulb for my beardie, and wont be able to go out and get another one anytime soon. since the one i have is compact, i turned it off. i figure it does more harm on than off.
i have been taking quincy outside for an hour every day to replace his light until i will be able to get another. is this enough to keep him healthy?
Yeah if you can provide plenty of outside time the natural sunlight is better than any artificial lights you provide. An hour is pretty decent exposure. I'd get a good UVB light as soon as reasonably possible but in the meantime an hour outside daily should be fine.
If its just a few days without UVB I don't think you will have any negative side effects. However, you MUST keep the heat bulb there. Even if the compact bulb doesn't give UVB if it gives heat then keep it there. Beardies need heat to digest food - without heat they cannot digest and I think that leads to impaction among other health issues.
