Hello, I have been researching about bearded dragons these past few days and think a rankins is the right choice for me but am not sure. I want to go with a rankins because of the smaller size compared to normal bearded dragons. Call me weird but I don't like how large normal bearded dragons get. But my problem is that I cannot find anyone selling any. Can anyone tell me where I can buy one from? I know a lot of information and what I need to care for it. But I don't know where I can find one. Can anyone help?
Also is it true that rankins are more feisty like harder to tame? I know their head is shaped differently than a normal bd, I know they don't come in as great colors etc., and I know they don't have an many and as big spikes on their heads. But I'm ok with giving up those things due to their smaller size. Is this info correct? Any other info I might wana know that you might think is important?
Ohh also does it make a difference if I get a male or female? Is one bigger or smaller than the other? Is one friendlier than the other? Is one more delicate as far as getting sick faster than the other?
Thank you for taking the time to read my post and any answer or info is definitely appreciated!
Actually the Rankin's dragon has it's own care that is a little bit different that the bigger species. It is more of a bug eater and it likes water more.
It doesn't matter if it's a male or female when it comes to personality. They are big personalities stuck in a little dragon body. They are more active and quite the characters. The only real caution is that females may produce eggs even without a male being present. These dragons do have a higher calcium requirement in their diet. Most important in the diet of a female dragon.
