Hello everyone, I need some advice. I have a 5 year old male Beardie (Pogon) that I've had since he was a juvenile. I just adopted a 6 year old female (Sara) from a friend that couldn't care for her anymore. I tried introducing them to each other in a neutral environment outside of Pogon's cage. Pogon puffed out his beard and bobbed his head for a few minutes (I've read that that's supposed to be a sign for a male to attract a female), but eventually Pogon ran up behind her and started snapping at the back of her neck. I split them apart for a few minutes and then tried it again with the same results. I understand that he's just trying to show dominance but he was biting her and holding on. Is there any chance that these two will ever be able to coincide together or should i just cut my loses and keep them separated? Any kind of input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Your male wanted to give you a gift, little beardie babies through your female.
he biting iw what the males do to keep the female in place so he can do what he wants to do. I would keep them separated unless you want a loottt of beardie babies
Get the new Dragon their own cage. You need to do that anyway as all Dragons need to be under quarantine, especially coming from a less than reputable source.
