I am new to the forums, and would like to give a little background information. I currently have two female bearded dragons, one is 12" 6months old citrus and a sweet girl, the other is a 7.5" dark beardie around 3-4months old. I also have a 9.5inch "Zero" Morph leatherback mail arriving in a few days. (I will post pics, do not worry! ) I was just curious, what genetics/morph do you guys think my little darker beardie is? He's really small for his age.. I am kind of worried.
Hi there....he looks like a leatherback , just not a very smooth one. If you can get a closer pic of his back it would be easier to tell. His color is due to stress [ the circles on the belly are actually called stress marks ] and it's because of the shared tank. Even with plexiglass separating them, he can see the other dragon and is stressed out. If you can find something that's not see through then he should calm down after a bit. His color will change as he grows so you'll see a difference probably with every shed.
I look forward to seeing the Zero dragon....have you thought of a name ? I remember a song long ago called " saved by Zero"
Hey, thanks for the reply!
Actually he was this dark when i bought him, he was born this way along with his spotted belly. When he shed's his spotted belly is so vibrant and beautiful! My zero arrives in the morning btw. As for names, I'm currently thinking about : Casper (the friendly ghost was one of my favorite childhood movies), Hector (Hector "Zero" Zeroni, from the Disney movie "Holes"), or Frankie (Because thats my uncle's name and he's SUPER white.
Oh the choices we have to name our critters, can drive you mad. Of course there's no reason why he can't have a first, a middle and a last name. But yes, those marks are called stress marks, babies do hatch out with them but they go away + return during stressful periods. Some stress is fine, but being in view of another dragon [ especially larger ] will cause more stress. I know because I've hatched many babies.
