Interesting behavior today!

All the kids were home...both boys and friends and their girl cousin (my grandsons and granddaughter) and Kai was so happy and social today! He went very comfortably into older grandson's arms and then into granddaughters arms, no blackbeard, no stress marks, no freezing, very interested and relaxed. They were sitting on the bed and I was right there too. At one point he opened his mouth for a second or two, not hissing or defensive. Was he gaping from being warm in my arms or was he doing something else? It was just momentary, no sounds, no weird breathing. Anyway, he was in a really good mood and enjoyed the interaction and the kids were so gentle and careful.

Oh he used to be afraid of his own shadow! But I think he is finally realizing that people (not just me) mean juicy bugs, gentle pats, and warm arms to rest on lol.

If they are already warm before you get them out they will sometimes gape. Lucy does it quite a bit.

Oh ok. I was thinking it might be that because he showed no fear or defensive aggression at all. I think he really likes kids.

He is getting so much more social! We were cuddling and dozing on the sectional for a half hour or so today. He even closed his eyes and napped.

That's awesome, the more comfortable he gets with you the more you be able to enjoy being with him. It's much more pleasant when you don't feel like your scaring them or stressing them out.

Awwww special moments.

They gape all of the time, even if for a moment. Hand the a veggies or green leaf, they'll mouth will close so fast lol
NO but seriously m he's fine.

I love how social he's getting. I imagined you sitting close watching the kids to make sure there was proper handling. I did the same
