Can anyone recommend any good insurance for UK owners? All the major ones I looked at for pet insurance are for cats or dogs...
I've seen a couple that specialise in 'exotic pets' but would prefer a recommendation. One that I found wouldn't insure her until she was 12 weeks old anyway...
You need to be very careful about what they do and don't cover.
Personally you might be better off putting the money into a savings account and using that as back-up. I'd check reptile forums uk. You are probably more likely to get some better suggestions there.
Cheers. That's why I was asking for recommendations - I've been stung/annoyed with insurance before (not for pets) because if specific things that weren't covered...
I like your idea of savings actually, that might be better
Providing you have a little bit to cover any early issues or access to credit then i think it better. if you work out what you might spend on premiums for an animals life, you need to work out if it's likely that sort of expenditure could arise.
Whilst treatment can add up, with proper care you can mitigate many risks. Also to an extent the available treatments for lizards are a little more restrictive than for larger pets. So the chance of being faced with having to choose between a potential huge bill is not as likely (the downside being of course that there are less options if an animal is sick).
