Hello!
I came home about five minutes ago and found out, that my beardie is acting strange.
His hind leg has no tension in it, one of his fingers is all hard and swollen up, an I can’t seem to find his knee...
Could it just be dislocated or maybe bumped?
I can’t visit the vet today because she isn’t available, so I am going tomorrow. He seems to be in some pain when he moves it.
Any suggestions on how to mobilise his leg and make him comfortable?
Sorry to hear about your dragon --- some pics would be nice https://www.beardeddragon.org/useruploads/ click on XIMG at top of message box then click on the pic --- it should post
Is his beard black ? That would indicate pain - not sure how to keep it immobilized but some others on here can help w/ that - has he gotten his nail caught in a hammock then pulled ? The vet is it a reptile vet? If not here is a website to help find one www.arav.org
Karrie
Thank you for quick feedback.
-no his beard is not black, but he moves his leg away from me when I try to take a good look
-yes, the vet specialises in bearded dragons and lizards
-I will upload pictures
-thank you for the link, but I am not from the States so...
-he is otherwise a bright colour and feeling energic
-he lost some of his appetite though
Here are the images.
I know it does not show clearly, but his knee is, like, really not quite where it should be & there is no muscle tension in his leg.
-and about his nail... I am not sure what happened.I don’t have a hammock. Maybe he got his leg caught in a root he has in his terrarium. I took it out but we didn’t have any issues before with it...
Some body else is gonna haft to look at his leg etc............ I am not expert but to me I am not seeing anything so thats why I said some one else will haft to look --- its hard to tell he could of snagged a nail on something and pulled -- it happens - thats why I asked about the hammock -- lets see who responds and see what they say
Is he limping around or you said he was energetic so that is good -- his eating maybe has nothing to do w/ it - if he was black bearding etc then I would be more concerned - just keep an eye on him and watch how hes moving -- he could of sprained it but like I said some body else is gonna haft to look
Karrie
Yeah, it might just be sprained...
He is limping around tho...
He is currently in his mating season so he glass surfs a lot and puffs his beard( that is when it becomes black)
