As said in the title, my beardie is impacted. I'm not sure what caused it because he is on repticarpet, not sand. He seems to be in a bit of pain because he's glass surfing and hideing a lot. I tried clearing it up with baths but it doesn't seem to be working and only getting worse. This was his last poop.
Can someone please give me suggestions on what to do?
How long ago was the last poop? Are you sure he is impacted? Usually the best thing to do is offer plenty of water by dripping it on his nose to lick up. Including a few drops of olive oil can help. Offering a little bit of baby food pumpkin, applesauce, or prunes can help as well. If he is well hydrated it may help him pass a blockage.
The last poop was today, actually. I'm pretty sure he's impacted because today was the first day this week he was able to poop on his own. I've been giving him baths later in the day (about an hour before he goes to sleep) to give him the chance to see if he'll poop. Even with warm baths his feces is still much smaller then normal. If it's not impaction then I'm not sure what it is.
I'll try giving him some pumpkin and water to see if it'll help.
What types of foods have you been feeding him that could have impacted him?
Definitely try the pumpkin, along with a few drops of either coconut oil or olive oil mixed
in with it. You can also mix in some applesauce with it, too.
Keep him around 80 in his tank overnight, to help his digestion, also.
Let us know how he is doing.
Good news, I think the pumpkin helped. Two nights ago he had a very large poop. and normal ones yesterday and today. But, unfortunately he is still hiding and not basking. Any suggestions on how to make him stop hiding?
