I'm very worried about my baby girl Salacia. She has not pooped in a solid 5 weeks.
3 weeks ago, I moved across town. I think that may have something to do with it, but what about the two weeks prior? I have been giving her baths daily, she's been eating all of her greens AND her crickets... She's eating, but where is it going?! I took her to the vet, and the vet said everything checks well. I think that's a sign I need a new vet.
She's also been incredibly lazy. Hardly coming out of her cave.. When she does, she just plops down on her basking rock, and lays there.. not moving. She'll even sleep in that exact position if I turn her lights off..
Is this all normal? It doesn't seem like it.. Please help me!
you can mix the oil in with a little unsweetened applesauce or some squash baby food stage 1, or try some stage 1 prune baby food, or some canned pumpkin ( 100% pure pumpkin, no spices) those help act as laxatives.
I agree with trying the pumpkin, olive oil, or prune food. (Unsweetened Pumpkin works the best I think and my beardie loved it)
Buddy went a little over a month without pooping recently and I did the applesauce, olive oil, then the pumpkin. Warm baths while rubbing her belly will help. Maybe making the bath a little warmer than usual, and maybe deeper to make her swim and move around.
And as long as she doesn't walk any different or if you feel a hard lump it's okay.
And it is normal for them to sleep in the same spot that long, Buddy does it almost everynight. I have to move her from her basking rock to her bed, she's in the same spot in the morning.

I'm not sure if she was in Brumation.. How would I be able to tell?
I'll try to oil tonight, and get her to swim a little bit. I tried that once, but she blew up and just started floating everywhere. It was funny, but scary.
It is normal for a dragon to balloon up and float in the tub, that is a natural and normal thing, it kind of like us treading water or floating on our back.
Brumation is a tricky thing to call. It's when she would be constantly sleeping, or even off and on sleeping for over a month. They don't eat or eat near as much. They won't bask. They will just sleep/nap constantly. They will slow down their metabolism so they don't have to eat or poop.
I would mix the oil in something, anything really.. best bet would be the other laxative choices but whatever you have handy will work. Goodluck! Let us know.
Swimming in the bath definately works... my Ryuu HATES to swim but even if he paddles around a bit he'll poop... worked a treat when he was impacted last time.. I just got him to kick around and he went within about 5 or 10 minutes. The combination of the warm water + the kicking makes them go. Good luck!
So, I gave her some Olive oil. I dripped a little bit on her nose and she lapped it up like no tomorrow!
I made the bath a little warmer than usual, and made it a little deeper than usual, to make her swim. She tried the floating thing, but I picked her up, let her deflate, and put her back to make her swim. About 3 minutes into swimming, I could see little bubbles coming up. I assume she was pushing and farting, lol. So, I picked her up, left half her body submerged and she started pushing. I felt her whole body tensing. About 20 seconds later, a nasty glob of crap came out. She was pooping for nearly a minute straight. I think she got it all out.
She seems a lot more excited today, and her colors were really bright. We finally got it to pass! Thank you guys so much!
