I have a 1 1/2 year old male bearded dragon. He's got a great temperament and is well socialized with people. He is my first and only dragon. A friend of mine has a female dragon he "doesn't have time for" and asked me if I want her. She's female, I'm not sure how old, but from the pic I saw is full grown and he is at least her second owner.
IF I were to take her, can she and my dragon be introduced? I am not planning on breeding. Can they "play" together when supervised and then go back to their own enclosures? Do dragons enjoy the company of other dragons, or are they completely solitary? I don't know ANYTHING about housing multiple dragons.
No, they won't play together and if you try, you could end up with a pregnant female. Breeding can take mere seconds for some males so best to keep them separate. Dragons aren't social, they don't like or need company.
Keep in mind that once you bring a female into the house, you may get a hyper, horney male for part of the year. They can get really worked up just looking at a female from across the room.
Thank you Gail. My husband wasn't too keen on the idea when I ran it by him anyway. I think we are going to stay a one dragon household for now. I just felt badly for the other dragon. It's too bad, but I have to think of MY dragon first.
