So Dalia is being a bad girl and only wanting to eat Crickets, waxworms and blueberries. Her pooping habits have improved now that she's been eating a regular amount of crickets everyday. (Before she would poop every 4-5 days) now it's only a 2 day gap between poops. My question is, even though she has eaten greens before, why is she suddenly ignoring them? I will put waxworms on the days I only give her greens to try and entice her appetite for the greens, but she will just pick them out. Yesterday I put blueberries in the salad of mustard greens and she ignored it and stayed in her cave. She seemed punky this morning and stayed at the mouth of the cave. I picked her up and put her on top of the cave to warm her up.
I don't want her to get fatty liver disease from eating too many crickets, but I also don't want her to starve. She always seems to scarf down the crickets when I give them to her like I'm not giving her enough food.
Strangely she will eat greens outside, usually though it's only the occasional dandelion leaf or other weeds.
Well I rescued her from some people back in February. They said they had her for 9 months. So best guess is probably a little over a year now? I have no idea how old she was when they got her...and I don't think they knew how to properly feed her both protein and veggies.
Can you post some photos of her? I wouldn't worry about too many crickets yet as she's still fairly young but it may be about time to start to transition to veges. If she's a healthy weight you may be able to try offering only fresh salads for a week and see if she goes for them. It's a little extreme but sometimes the tough love approach works in these situations.
