For our snakes we have always used soaking in water and then spray with zoo-med shed-aid. I have thought about using this for my beardie. have you ever tried it for yours? http://www.amazon.com/Zoo-Med-Reptile-Shed-2-25/dp/B0002DJ0B0

Yeah it usually works, I sprayed it on his tail and rubbed it in, will see if it helps. I might have to get some aloe.

Pretty sure Ifrit has tail rot..
I have no good vets near me, so what can I do?
Anything? Or just go to a vet that hasn't a good reputation?

The way it looks, there is a band it is about 1 inch, the skin/scales are black in the area, have been for around 5 days now. I have been bathing, putting antibiotic gel on it and today, I decided I would try and alleviate some scales from the area as I had though retained shed but, upon doing so it is black underneath. I will get a picture or two after I finish eating.

No, he can still feel the area though. He pulls it away like it is in pre-shed, retained shed is a possible cause for tail rot though. If it was this I had no idea it was on his tail for however long it was until it turned dark. Other idea would be he bit his tail.

That is the same thing im worried about for Cupid right now because she had a bunch of retained shed on her tail and it came off and is still black underneath. Im interested to see Ifrits pics. Is it at the base of the tail or the end?

About a half inch from the tip.

The gooey appearance is from the antibiotic gel.

ok ya i see it better now on second look. that is how the last few in of Cupid's tail looks. is it dry without the antibiotics or kinda "smishy"?

It seems normal on the outside but moist underneath.
