Hi guys, I think my other beardie, Hades, might have something in his eye. He keeps opening and closing it and it looks like there may be a bit of gunk/film in the corners.
He has had a black beard for a couple of days now. I moved him into Cerberus's viv (he passed away the other day) after I had given it a thorough clean out. I'm not sure if the eye development is after I moved him or after I bathed him. It looked fine the other day but last night and today he kept blinking his eye.
I had two leopard geckos who developed eye problems, their eyes crusted over, and they both later died in 2007 from developing abscesses. The 'reptile' vet I had taken them to said they couldn't do anything and it was because of something in the air. They gave me some medication for the abscess but couldn't do anything about they eyes.
I really hope this isn't the same thing and I'm not sure what to do.
I just called up a different vet today but their reptile specialist is only available on Thursday next week.
I don't know what to do until then. Has anybody dealt with a similar issue and can suggest what to do?
I can post some pictures or a video if wanted.
If you work through it methodically , the chances are there are likely a lot of issues that need to be tweeked or changed and they will pop right out at you, if you can give very detailed answers we will then be in a position to offer help. Is impossible to help you if you don't provide thorough details .

I stopped using that vet a long time ago.
His viv has a 100W ceramic heat emitter. The temperatures on the cool side are around 25C-30C and the basking area is at around 40C.
He has I think, a T8 Acadia 12% desert UVB bulb, replaced the old one a few months ago. It is not covered. His vivarium is approximately 4ft x 2ft x 2ft.
The substrate I'm using at the moment is kitchen roll, paper towels, I am planning on replacing it with tiles and sand, or coconut bark.
I feed him veggies every day and crickets/wax worms when I can get them from the pet shop. I have some calcium powder I dust the crickets and wax worms with.
