My daughter just moved out for college and she had to leave her 4 year old beardie with me.. I think he is very sick. He isnt acting like himself, he was dry heaving and i think its called reaching the past couple days. Now he is doing it a little bit but today he was pooping and while he was doing that he hit his head a couple times on the glass of his tank and he was thrashing his head back and forth while stuff was flying out of his mouth. I cant take him to the vet because i do not have the money to pay for the bill. I have called everywhere within a 50 mile radius and no where will do payment plans and i dont qualify for carecredit.. what do i do? I desperately need help, i cant lose him.

Sorry to read this, can you post pics of the enclosure and lights ? What and how much was the dragon eating ? Thrashing his head he is throwing up so it's important to list what he ate before this started. Also what type of lights and what the temps. are throughout the tank.

The last thing he ate was superworms. I think he only ate about 5.

Sorry, I feel asleep right after my reply last night. But yeah he probably had too many superworms, it's the most common thing that adult beardies will eat and then vomit. How many did he have ? Also the set up looks good in the enclosure but I see only one heat bulb which may not be providing enough of a high temp. for digesting. Is there a long tube uvb ?

Hello,

I agree, sometimes if they eat too much they can vomit.
What are the temperatures for basking? I noticed you are using a stick on round analogue type of
thermometer? I recommend getting either a digital probe or a temp gun to spot check your basking
temperatures.
He should be ok once his tummy starts feeling better. Let us know how he is progressing.
Your setup looks nice, the background is great!

I have attached a video of what he sounds like. And about every 5 mins he is puffing up gis chin hes black and he looks like he is trying to push something out or throw up. Just want to be sure i dont need to go rushing him somewhere.

Has he thrashed or thrown up since your first post ? If not he may still be having just a slight bit of difficulty breathing. If it remains that way for a week or so and he shows no interest in food or blows bubbles then a trip to a qualified vet to check for an R.I would be in order.

Hello,

I agree, I would keep a watch on his behavior & his breathing. If he continues the breathing issues, he could have a respiratory infection developing.
Is he eating very much right now?

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
The head tilt tho! Aaaahhh
