Okay guys. So I’ve been searching for a tube uvb like you mentioned. And I am struggling a bit. But I did find a T8, 18 inch, reptisun 10.0 tube (see pics) and have mounted that INSIDE the tank right above his basking area. It’s secured to the metal screen. And I was careful to not have it too close. At the closest point it’s about 8-10 inches from his back to bulb. At only 18 inches long it is only covering half his tank right now though, the basking half. Also, I changed the setup a bit so now he has a few flat areas he can climb up onto (rocks, bricks) and stretch out parallel to the lights. And the hottest basking temp area hovers right around 95-100. But the cool half of his tank stays about 70-75 even through the night. I did get some digital probe thermometers and that is how I’m taking temps now. I still need to get another uvb tube to light the other half of his tank. And I really want that one to be a T5 but I can’t seem to find the reptisun brand hood kit. But petsmart had an Arcadia brand t5 12% (see pic). Is Arcadia a good brand? Is 12% uvb good enough? Can I sit that on top of the mesh lid? The lid is not fine mesh but the larger-holed kind. Is 12% strong enough? Or do I need to find the 14%? So after all these changes he does seem to be a bit more active and is basking and eating a little more often than he was. But occasionally he still hides at the bottom and will sleep the day and night away unless I move him to his basking spot and/or food dishes and then he perks up. He’s started eating SLIGHTLY better, but I feel like I’d still like him to eat more/more often. For him to eat and bask it’s about half and half. Meaning half the time I’ve physically picked him up and moved him myself, and the other half of the time he’s moved himself and is eating/basking on his own. Also one other thing I noticed today is that he’s got some diarrhea. Normally he poops in the bath and it seems formed enough to me, but today he pooped on a hard surface, and although there still was a mostly formed log with white at the end, there was quite a bit of liquid pooling around it as well. I should have taken a picture but didn’t think of it until it was too late and I had cleaned it up. And it was really pretty foul smelling. I looked closely and couldn’t see any worms or weird discolorations or mucus or anything like that. But now I am worrying about parasites or infections. I would love to hear opinions and suggestions on the changes I’ve made or any other thoughts. Thank you again!
