'chasing food is the only exercise they get in captivity'...seriously? :|

Seriously.

The wet paper towel that came with the gecko was a nasty mess. I'm not using that. Newspapers are potentially bad news, no pun intended. I was a paper delivery person for 10 years, and I knew people who developed irritation from handeling them so often due to the ink and wore latex gloves when folding and bagging their papers. Now, human skin is generaly more robust than reptiles..so if it irritates us.., reptiles can absorb chemicals through their skin, and ink is made from chemicals..so..duh. No newspapers either.

whatever book that is needs to be burned and tossed. the only thing worse than not feeding it a proper diet is actually feeding it babyfood, which that page recommends. i dont know why you have such a hardon for that book when there is so much overwhelming proof that that is wrong. but of course, dont listen to the large number of big name keepers/breeders who produce thousands of high quality, healthy animals each year, they dont know what the hell theyre doing, they havent read that book. its all a conspiracy, dont follow the mainstream trend, damn the man! strive to be different. :|

Funny you should say that..since the author of the book is one of them. I don't know about conspiracy, but it does sound alot like ego. Your way is the only way and everyone else is wrong. We'll see..I just wrote the company this guy manages the colonies for, mentioned the suggestion that his book should be burned and why, we'll see what he says.

It is a proven fact that crested geckos will become over weight when fed baby food. it offers no nutritional value, just added sugers to their diet. This isn't an attack. Most of us just want to help.

I myself have been looking into getting a Crestie, so congrats on your new addition! But, I must say, everything everyone telling you is what I have been reading by all major breeders and reputable reptile forums/websites online. I'd listen to what they are saying, as I heard all the same info.. goodluck!

In some circumstances that effect may be usefull however, esp if he's not eating well to begin with. I have both calcium powder with D3 for my beardie and a multi vitamin powder for nutrition. My new GLASS cage comes friday. The ecoearth with go in that. I got a hide shell as well..I can't imagine he likes being stuck in this cricket keeper but I am seriously worried about dehydration..as I've had to run the electric heater fan lately due to a drop in overnight lows (79 yesterday at 4 pm..now..51 with 30 mp wind and 1 inch of snow forcasted for friday..ugh) and it dried out the moss so fast I can't keep it moist, and since all he does is hide and never come out I pretty much had to simply remove him from the cage.

Honeydew seems to have been consumed atleast a bit, cantalope not sure. Every time he ate from the cap and I I kicked on the red light to have a look he'd see me move and stop eating to look at me. On the plus side, I did get to see him nab a cricket. seems to only want the big ones. Waxies and roaches..no luck yet. Banana gets a turn tonight, they're getting ripe so hopefully he'll give it a taste.

Also wittness him licking himself..never realised they lick themselves like a dang cat..needless to say..he's defenetly male..

a poem by AHBD (THANK YOU SO MUCH! I LOVE IT!)

Sir Henry the dragon
Looking for his dragon girl
Ventures out in to the wide world
His hopes are up but as you can see
There is no dragon girl for Sir Henry
A light bulb goes off and he takes mom aside
Could you perchance get me a mail order bride ?
