Question to keep the humidity in the good reading. I currently have 3 temperature and 3 humidity reading devices in my dragons tank. The UV side on both devices read approximately 27 to 31 % however the heated side 2 reads 14 to 17 % and the 3rd reads on average 40%, I'm assuming the 3rd is way wrong but how do I keep the humidity in the 20 to 30 range on the heated side? I can show pictures if needed. Thanks for any advice.
I agree, the humidity range is fine. I don't usually worry about humidity unless the room feels really humid to me. Overly dry air can dry out their mucous membranes and be an issue on the other side of the spectrum as well. Note that humidity will often raise a bit at night when the lights are off and this is also normal and OK.
Thanks for the information and I will say his water dish is on the heated side but it's definitely not affecting the humidity it's still continuously between 14 and 17%.
Since that's a bit low, I'd first double check the hygrometer reading by calibrating it if you can. This is common for cigar humidors and there are some instructions for this available on those sites. That said, since it's winter the air is quite a bit drier than normal and I haven't seen this cause an issue over the years. I probably wouldn't increase the water in the enclosure, but I'd definitely leave the water dish in place for him even if he doesn't drink from it.
