Heyy. So my beardies tank won't hold any humidity what so ever( it's a 4x2x2). Believe me, Ive tried EVERYTHING. I spray the tank every hour. It's goes up to around 30 then in minutes will go down to 15%(which is definitely bad). Which I can't do for much longer because of work. I have a blanket over 3/4 of the tank to keep in the moisture because of the mesh top. Ive tried a automatic sprayer that would spray her tank. I tired a water bowl directly under the heat lamp. She has once gotten a respiratory infection because of it in the past and it happens every winter. Her tank is also close ish to the heater, so maybe that's it. What should I do?! I just have tried everything and I'm at a loss 😭

Humidity is absolutely a none issue. I live in Las Vegas the Humidity here is as low as 2% in the summer. Zero issues. I've lived in Florida with beardies also, Humidity 99%. Zero issues. The only time you really need to worry is if there is some other underlying illness like a respiratory infection.

Spraying the enclosure (especially every hour) will lead to exponentially more health issues and problems than letting the tank stay at a low humidity. Dragon's do not need a high humidity (or even a moderate) humidity level for any function of their health.

Oh okay! I just had the one time with the respiratory infection and my vets told me that it's because the humidity is too low and it should always stay between 30 and 40. I will definitely take that into account, thank you!

Your welcome 🙂
If humidity were going to cause respotory problems, it would be more likely that high humidity would do so more than low humidity.

Absolutely. If anything, you want your humidity as low as possible. We are talking about dessert animals here and not ones from a tropical rainforest.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
cookie event at my library today, quite fun! Made some bracelets for my comrades too, to give them at church in the morning. Got a busy day tomorrow even though I’m off work… i go back on tuesday so atleast I’ll have 2 days off to rewind….then back to hell lol
