I have had Beardies for almost 6 yrs on and off and decided to get back in to breeding again plus just found this forum via Google... I currently have 3 Beardies and looking to get a couple more since 2 of mine are pet shop rescues and are majorly stunted growth wise... and will not be in my projects at all... my other one Kappa is about 11" and of all the times I have worked with Beardies this is the first one I have had that I'm having issues with sexing... it has a dimple by the vent opening but no double bulges nor does it have the big pores on the underside of the hind legs... also can't figure out what morphology it is as Kappa was a present from my partner...
If I can get it to hold still... I got it last week from the local pet supermarket after they put it in a tank the size of a 5.5 gal after the dumbies decided to let it eat a couple babies they had just bought and put in with it... they seem to be a bunch of rejects at that place which I so.t get started on right now LOL... but as soon. As I can get her to hold still I will try to post a pic but dunno how to do that with my phone just yet....
Not quite a good enough angle to be positive on the sex. Try placing a finger on the top side of the tail gently applying slight pressure when you lift it up, this will help expose that area better. BTW...might take 2 people, one for holding beardie one for manning camera, if you haven't done it in awhile or if beardie is very fidgety.
Kappa is a very out going beardie and loves exploring but I give him a big spinach leaf and he stays still for me... I will try to get a couple more pics later of him cuz my birthday is next Thursday and I'm wanting to get another beardie but just gotta find out the sex of Kappa so I can first him/her a mate...
