i just got my new beardy a couple days ago and his owner did not have a heat light on him for two days because it broke now he is all black bearded and i havent seen him poop at all i want to give him a bath but he flails and gapes every time i try to puck him up to put him in one is there anyway to treat for impaction without all the interaction because he still does not trust me
Hmm. You could try leaving foods in there for him to eat, like a blob of pumpkin or applesauce or babyfood prunes. Some people have had luck with dipping a couple of feeders in olive oil and giving them to the beardie.
Water will help him out a bunch too with impaction. Will he let you get close enough to gently drip some water on his nose for him to lick up? (Or if he drinks on his own out of a water dish that's awesome too! )
Good luck with everything! I know I'd be super stressed if I was dealing with new-dragon stress and poop problems stress  Lots of hugs for you
if i have food he just gets blacker if i dont have food he puffs up slightly and gapes at me his last owner said he likes to be out of his tank. but he wont let me do that i can try the crickets in oliv oil he loves his crickets
nope hes not as black anymore but he now gapes at me even if i just walk up to the tank. and he still hasnt pooped im gana put a tshirt in his tank tomarrow but im not sure if hes realy gaping at me sometimes it lookes like he is looking at his reflection i dont have anything on the wall necause his previous owner didnt and now he wont let me take him out to put anything up
Also! I had a thought. Maybe he's fussing when you try to pick him up because his tummy/insides are a bit tender from being stopped up, so he doesn't like being touched. Hopefully he gets better about handling once he's passed whatever is in his cute little tummy! <3
that would make sence he was fine laying on me the whole ride home. i just dont know if there are any major health concerns for being impacted too long? and how long would to long b
oh rude my internet is freaking out again. This connection is garbage, but AT&T won't fix it because the problem is only intermittent, not constant (yet). Lame.
Anyways! I think the Impaction article in the Care Sheets and Articles section on here goes into a bit more detail. (I should probably post this super fast before the internet dies again, and sorry for just pointing you to an article! There's probably some good info you can dig up from a forum search too.)
Good luck! Don't forget to make sure he's getting enough water to drink also, if you still can't get him into the bath. (Unless you could fit a small "bathtub" into his actual viv? Hmmm)
he does have a shallow dish that big enough for him to go into and i think he does because sometimes the water level changes but ive never seen him in it
