I order my crickets 500 at a time. I do pretty well at keeping the majority of them alive in a 20 gallon tupperware type storage bin with a waterer and the gutloading feed from petsmart. The problem I'm running into is the bottom of the tub gets nasty with dead crickets and old, I'm guessing, cricket waste(pee mainly?) What can I use on the bottom of the tub or do I need to be using a different type of enclosure? Thanks for any help provided.
I would say to just tape down some paper towels or news papers. I wouldnt suggest not taping ti down because the crickets would all find a way under the paper and it would be a big hassle. Also you could have a smaller container and once it gets really messy put the crickets in the smaller temperary container and clean it out thurily then put them back in. Hope this helps!
One of the moderators here suggested using plastic cling wrap in the bottom of the container. I don't do that, but I do have two rubbermaid tubs, one for keeping the crickets while I'm cleaning out the main bin.
