How should I hang up a digital probe thermometer in the tank?

I just got a new probe thermometer and put it on the basking spot and I was wondering how I should keep it in there. When I came home today I noticed some nibble marks on it. Should I just keep it in there when I need to see the temp or always?

Get some two sided tape stick the reader on the side of the tank take the probe and wrap around the reader - you don't need to leave the probe on the basking spot -- check it every so often

I use these Command hooks off of Amazon. The probe end fits in them perfectly. Then when I test the basking spot, I pop the probe out and move it.
