How often do adult beardies poop?

Hi Everyone,

Bowser's last bowl movement was Tuesday, and it wasn't very much. Now it has been going on three days since she pooped. She seems a little bloated and not very hungry. I've been giving her 20 min soaks, but even that hasn't made her poop. I gave her some pumpkin puree two days ago and she gobbled it up. But still no poop.
She is a little over a year old now. How often do adult bearded dragons poop? Is there a norm? I only gave her two medium dubia roaches yesterday, and she ate her butternut squash, too. Today, she hasn't eaten anything. I'm afraid to give her any more food until she poops.

That's kinda normal. Adults can take upto two weekish to potty.
If she is bloated though drop a poop sample at the vet. Bloating can be a sign of parasites.

Okay, thanks. I'm still learning as she grows up. I will see if my regular vet can check her stool for parasites. Her reptile vet is 1 hr and 15 min away 😓
She seems to be acting normal otherwise. I caved and gave her a hornworm as a treat today.

It's good to know it's normal to only go once a week or so. I was used to her going every other day when she was younger or every day.

Hello,

It might be a good idea to get a fecal exam on
her just to be sure she doesn't have a heavy load
of worms or parasites.
As adults they do tend to go potty less often. Their
metabolism slows from what it was when they were
youngsters.

I'm going to try to get a fecal exam done asap just in case. The only possible problem is that Bowser will only poo in her bath water. I hope that they can still test it if it comes in contact with water.

Hello,

If you can quickly gather it up from the bathwater, it should still be able to be tested to be an
accurate test.
How is she doing today? Let us know how things go at the vets when you do get her in.

She seems to be doing well. She has pooped twice since I last posted. I think that her metabolism must be slowing down. But I did manage to collect a soggy poo sample and bring it to the vet. They needed to send it away to be tested but I bet I will hear this week sometime.

Hello,

She looks terrific, nice & alert. Her weight is just right. They tend to start going potty less often as they get a little older simply because they don't eat quite as much.

Thank you! She is so sweet and lets the kids pick her up. They are very careful with her. I have to say when she tips her head to the side and makes eye contact with me, it's the cutest, sweetest thing.

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
