Hi. I'm buying my first bearded dragon next Wednesday and he is 2 months old.
I am just wondering how many crickets should I feed him a day when I get him?
And how many feeds per day?
He should be fed as much as he can eat in a 10-15 min time period --- make sure your feeding him insects NO bigger than the space between his eyes length wise --- make sure they are being dusted w/ calcium D3 ONCE per feeding 5 x per week --- vitamins w/ beta carotene 2 x per week ONCE per feeding --- he needs correct UVB to be able to absorb / synthesize the calcium hes eating meaning NO coils for a UVB he needs a long tube fixture 24" for a 40 + gallon tank ---- Zoo Med or a Arcadia Pro T 5 or a Sunblaster Nano Tech are all good UVB fixtures --- he needs a CLEAR bright white basking bulb that keeps temps 105-110 taken w/ a digital probe thermometer NO stick ons they are inaccurate --- the probe needs to be placed on the spot he basks on you want surface temps not ambient temps --- your dragon is going to need fresh salads every morning
Nutrition Content ignore the kale thing its a good staple feeder
your going to want to get a digital hygrometer
Exo Terra Digital Hygrometer place the probe on the back center wall of the tank optimal humidity 40-50% nothing below 20 and nothing higher than 70%
No sand for substrate No colored bulbs No heat mats or rocks please ----
I would recommend dubia roaches for a staple feeder they are less mess and easier to take care of plus better nutrition-- the website I posted for the hygrometer has excellent roaches
