You can buy bulk crickets online, its much cheaper then buying from the pet store. A good number to start with are 500 1/2". You have to feed and water them but its easy. A 10 gallon aquarium or similar sized rubbermaid tub will work for a cage.

You need a 10 gallon tank or similar sized plastic tub and a screen lid to keep them contained. Paper towel tubes or toilet paper tubes work well for them to climb on, they can't be on a bare floor. A shallow dish for food and water, I use plastic lids. For food you can buy powdered cricket food or you can grind/smash a quality dog food. For water you can buy cricket gel or use cotton balls soaked in water, they will need to be changed daily. You can also feed them left over fruit and veggies.
The crickets need to be kept at room temp, too hot or cold and they will die. A screen lid is also necessary, not enough air flow will also kill them.

Bought some crickets! He LOVES them, and I also got the Repashy Calcium Plus. He likes it, too. Only problem is, he threw one up right after swallowing it. It's sitting there moving only one leg in his tank brutally mauled. Oh, well. I guess I'll order 500 next. He LOVES the crickets.
