Hello, I have just been wondering how to start a dubia colony for one 7 month old bearded dragon. I really can't be spending $40-$60 a month just on these roaches. Does anyone know how to start a small colony for just one bearded dragon? Please help.
I would order a mix pack of maybe 400-500 along with a handful of adult roaches. Put them in a bin or tank with a mesh top. Cardboard tubes work well for housing. You can feed them leftover veges from your dragon's salad. They love squash and orange slices but will eat most leftover veges. Once you have them set up, there's not a lot to their care aside from feeding them and keeping them fairly warm. They breed more quickly if they have warm temps so a CHE or heat projector bulb over the housing can be helpful.

I know this thread is old, but there are plenty of breeders out there that sell dubia roach colony starter kits. Just got mine today and hopefully they start producing!
