now im starting to think because he does have sqwintty eyes alot.

1. You should make sure he can't get any closer than 10 inches from it no matter where he is laying in the tank.
2. Please make sure that you are using a bright white basking bulb as that helps counteract the glare/damage that the bulb gives off.
3. Make sure that the UVB and basking bulb are right alongside each other on top of the tank.
If you notice any eye symptoms at all or he starts acting lethargic or just doesn't act like himself, please turn the light off right away and not use any for a few days until you can get the Repti-Sun 10.0 fluorescent. Even a Repti-Sun 5.0 or Repti-Glo 8.0 would be safer than the one you have now, but neither of them is as good a bulb as the Repti-Sun 10.0. Hope this helps.
