Every now and than i will see Ceasar running accross the cage or jumping up to get to a bug. Household flies or spiders mostly. Not in abundance but here and there. Usually by the time i get over there to try and shoo the pest away he has been consumed by my savage dragon. (hes actually a complete heartbreaker). So i was curious as to if they are dagnerous. i know that they can carry outside diseases but as long as its not alot being consumed is it ok? there not much i can do. the lights attract the flies. I dont get many but he does a good job at getting rid of them.
I asked this same question a while back and what everyone told me was that at long as it is not a lot and very rarely happens you should be fine. As long as no fireflies get in.
You need to be really careful, mainly from pesticides. Your family may not treat the house or exterior for pests, but do you know if your neighbors do? Or if they use lawn fertilizers? Or your neighbors neighbors? It's just not worth the risk, and its not far from feeding your dragon insects that you catch outside (another no-no).
It sounds like he's doing it on his own and not that you're attempting to
deliberately feed outside bugs to him. As you said, there's not really
much you can do to prevent it, other than not letting him roam around,
which isn't acceptable either.
Just try to limit it as much as you can, and make certain to get him
away from lightning bugs (or any self-glowing type bug) as they are
incredibly toxic and even one can be potentially fatal.
