Hello everyone.
I just got a new beardie. I had an adult male about 10yrs ago that I gave to my mother. She's a dog person but absolutely fell in love with Mr. Lizard. She decided to move 700miles away and I gave him to her as a going away present. He passed away 3years ago. I just bought a little male (I think) from a pet store. He's got a really pretty color, super friendly and eating ok. I am considering getting some Dubias Roaches (Shivers) I'm trying to talk myself into it. I've always had a bad fear of roaches so this may be difficult for me to talk myself into, but he doesn't really seem very thrilled with crickets. One of the problems is that I am having problems finding them. A lot of places have a limit or are out of them. He's a total joy. We haven't named him yet, still trying to find the right name lol. The store said he's about 2 months old. I'm glad I found this site, and I'm looking forward to being an active member.
I grew up in Hawaii... I could NEVER bring roaches into my house on purpose! I don't care how easy they are to breed...
Try the med phoenix worms from phoenixworms.com. I feed the large to my juvie and my adult. They are still kinda small but there is no risk of impaction and the are SO GOOD for them! Check out the webpage. Your baby will grow like a weed! They ship fast and they are not stinky. They have like 50 times the calcium than crickets or roaches. They wiggle just enough to get your dragon interested. I fed my juvie about 20 today and she looked at me like "hello... still hungry". I tried to give her crickets after that and she looked at me like I just punched her mother!
 Welcome to BD.org!
And.................. Congradulations on the new baby!
I'm sure I can speak for everyone when I say we look forward to seeing some pic's of your new little one.
I switched from crickets to roaches 6 months ago. I can't believe that I'm raiseing and breeding roaches in my house. But it is very helpful an a relief to my husbands wallet. I have learned to deal with them and they are really not that bad. An all of my beardies love them! The things we do for our beardies!
Thanks, I adore Zak & Wheezie!! I remember reading about them on yahoo i do believe. They are absolutely adorable! And congrats on making it well past the 3month mark!
Here are a few pictures of my lil guy. He has some really pretty coloring down his back and around his face but his basking lamp throws it off.
Aawww! He is adorable! :love5: Such a pretty little guy! :love10:
I know what you mean about trying to get pic's when they are under their light. Mine come out yellow
most of the time when I take pic's of mine in their viv's, even the beardies that aren't yellow.
No problem.
2 repti-sun 10.0 24" bulbs
Basking area is 109F with 33% humidity
Cool area runs around 83F
I have a digital therm from walmart that I put in and check once every day (leaving it for an hour in each spot for readings)
We finally picked out a name for him. His name is Falkor, he just finished his first shed since we've had him. I'll take more pics tomorrow. I have an order of 500 dubias roaches and a starter kit on the way, as well as a 160w Mega-Ray and a 48" full spectrum light both from reptileuv.com
