So Bud arrived yesterday and is settling in nicely....I will try and post some pics up in the next few days.
The previous owner used a stick on strip thermometer so I have ordered a digital one with a probe and a thermostat and will then adjust the UV strip and basking lamp accordingly.
The previous owner used sand and as he is only 5 months I am changing that tonight.
I want to change to slate tiles as they look great in the pics on this site but Bud buries himself under the sand to sleep so whats the best idea? I have also brought Repti carpet just in case so I have options.
well although sand is one of there natural habbitat ground cover ppl here told me to get off the sand asap many cause of the bearded eating a cricket and by chance eating sand too thus causing impaction i would say that get rid of the sand but buy a hide-a-rock or a half log that he can hide under mine generaly sleeps in his and then pokes his head out in the morning.
A common solution is to give your dragon a blankie or put some hand towels in with him at night - then he has a nice soft place to sleep on, in or under (whatever he wants) and you can just throw them into the washer as need be.
This is his home - a work in progress!!
I have changed the sand for reptile carpet and added some slate tiles to raise his basking log. It needs to be raise higher though.
I am also going to change the UVB strip as it is a Reptiglo 2.0 so I will change to the 10.0.
I am hoping that he will settle in now too as he has only eaten a few crickets since sunday though he is eating all his greens everyday.
