Help

I just got my baby bearded dragon Friday and I put her in her enclosure. She didn’t eat Friday, but I did get her to take some mealworms from me Saturday. She’s been drinking water. She’s been going to the bathroom but yesterday Sunday and today she didn’t take no mealworms. I don’t know if she’s eating because I can’t really tell if there’s a difference in her bowl, but she has been using the bathroom. I find her during the day sleeping on her log. I’m guessing she’s sleeping. She’ll open her eyes and she’ll close them back while surfing where she stand glass and she leaning against the glass and , but she has been using the bathroom. I find her during the day sleeping on her log. I’m guessing she’s sleeping. She’ll open her eyes and she’ll close them back while surfing where she stands up on her back legs and she’s leaning against the glass and she’s sleeping right now she is asleep , but she’ll keep her eyes closed and she’ll turn like she can hear me but her eyes closed and I’m a bearded dragon mom and I don’t want nothing happened to her so I just need to know if this is OK it’s just because she’s in a new place I contacted Petco where we got her from and they don’t know much about her. They don’t know if it’s a male or female they don’t know the age of them , she don’t have her cage. She has three sticks her food ball in her water bowl. Please let me know if this is me , she don’t have her cage. She has three sticks her food ball in her water bowl. Please let me know if this is OK.

First we need to get the lights on par along w/ surface basking temps- I see stick ons they are inaccurate for surface basking temps 105-110 taken w/ a digital probe thermometer -- next UVB if your using a coil that would be a bulb in a dome they are NO good -- you need a long tube fixture I can post links for 3 good ones -- the sand I would get rid of - in babies it will cause impaction - use paper towels for now - recommended textured NON adhesive shelf liner cut to the size of the tank --- meal worms are NO good for little babies - the exoskeleton on them is too harsh --- please get some small crickets or dubia roaches - I recommend the roaches do not feed the crickets or roaches in the tank because of the sand and do not leave the crickets in the tank -- dubias are ok crickets bite -- we wont be able to determine sex till around 6 months of age but for now we need to get the lights and basking temps on par - right now the dragon is going thru relocation stress and needs time to adjust to the tank and surroundings -- he needs to eat something nothing is not good - he needs fresh salads every day main diet is protein 20 % salads for now - I would get him some BSFL www.symtonbsf.com order medium size -- you want a bowl similar to one like this to keep them in https://www.amazon.com/MACGOAL-Rept...uGQB&pd_rd_wg=tLkwE&ref_=pd_gw_ci_mcx_mr_hp_d
Use these as salad lures 20-25 first thing in the morning -- did you get any calcium D3 for the dragon? What size tank is he in? Petco and Pet Smart people do not have a clue as to how to take care of dragons -- you have come to the right forum for help --- please ask questions --- NO colored bulbs No off white bulbs NO daytime bulbs for basking you want a solid clear bright white basking bulb that will keep temps of 105-110 for the baby -- taken w/ a digital probe thermometer -- you want 2 of them one for basking side one for cool side 80ish for that side of the tank

Once your dragon is a bit larger/ older, you can use a sand-like substrate (for example play sand plus fertilizer-free soil plus what is sold as "burrowing clay", this makes a shapeable, semi-hard surface similar to what is found in nature when dry sandy soil hardens at high temperatures), but please nothing that is so powdery as it looks in the photo.
Fine powdery sand is bad for the joints (the animal cannot really get traction and sinks in), eyes and nose (as it gets in to everything), in addition to possible impaction for small dragons (you might have seen they pick up food with a sticky tongue, and the sand will stick to it).

Regarding the water bowl: It will likely not be used; dragons usually don't drink the way most animals would do (= from a bowl). Bearded dragons require relatively little water and get most of this from their food (this is why no dried food like dried insects or pellets should be fed). You can help with misting the vegetables with some greens, and using an eye dropper or pipette or similar dropper to slowly drop a bit of water on your baby dragon's snout. I've read some of those droppers are made of glass which could break, so please get one made of plastic.

I agree also on what KarrieRee wrote; this just as an addition.

I have a 160w uvb uva and light and heat bulb that came with the kit the tank stay like 90 to100 and and she has a cool side
What is the brand? If it's on the screen she's not getting much uvb- screens block 30% of the rays - if your going to keep the mvb I recommend getting a back up uvb- we always recommend that- how big is the tank?

Ok thru a screen I would have the UVB 14-16 inches directly above the basking decor piece-- I would recommend getting the long tube fixture UVB -- -- PowerSuns are pretty good but I am not a fan of MVB simply because you haft to do so much adjusting so they are getting what they need for UVB and temps etc
-- I can post links for some good UVB's we recommend 3 on this board -- you will eventually need to upgrade that tank so I will post ones that will go into a bigger tank

I can feel her staring into my soul demanding food
She was having a staring contest with a mealworm. I guess I never taught her to not play with her food, lol.
