my viv currently looks like this despite it not yet being at the right temperature. it does not contain my beardie yet but i’m supposed to get him tomorrow and i don’t know if i can if this persists. i’m currently using bio life ( desert, it’s a soil and sand mix ) as a substrate as that’s what the shop gave me in their kit. i can’t check the exact humidity right now as i don’t have a hygrometer but this can’t be right? the basking area is only 30 degrees ( celsius ), which isn’t hot enough yet. can anyone help, or tell me how to stop it? i’ve never had a bearded dragon before so this is a whole new ball game

If I were you I would just ditch that substrate even paper towels for now will work and then you can get some tile or repti carpet I've been wanting to go bio but I'm going to wait till the time is right because it is complicated and if you're looking for a quick solution being is your beardie will be there tomorrow I would just take out the substrate tonight and see if you can't get the temperatures and stuff you need and stuff you need before receiving your dragon tomorrow you don't want a humid tank being the first thing you put your baby in.

i’m trying to sort out the temperatures now, it was turned off over night so we could see if the night-temps would be fine without a heating mat. if the problem persists, i’ll switch it out with paper towels and ask the guys at the store if it’ll be fine. thank you for responding!

our baby has been on tile her whole life it will be fine. if you use heat mat I would get a thermostat because they get hot and beardies will burn there bellies believe it or not. I would look into getting a ceramic heat emitter for nightime if your temps are getting below 65 at night.

what store are you getting your info from because alot of pet stores will give you poor advice and make sure your uvb is a florescent tube like T5 or T8 because coil bulbs are not efficient

Hey! I'm planning on ordering a 4x2x2 for my next beardie but I'm worried about lighting. I have a UVA and a UVB but they are small (the UVA just being a bulb and the UVB being 12 ish inches?) My house is drafty so I need a strong light that puts off quite a good amount of heat, any suggestions?
