Okay , so i got a repti-sun 10.0 48 inch 38 watt bulb in the light unit , its all hooked up and when i turn it on the light turns on for about 5 seconds , then turns off , the light unit it ment to hold 2 x 40 watt , i took the bulb out and tried a differnt one but it only turns on for about 5 seconds? Please help don't want to use compact bulb
Sounds like the bulbs aren't making good contact. Try putting the new one back in and make sure that both sets of probes on the end are in the slots correctly. It's possible that the holder itself is bad. Is that new or have you had it for a while? If it's old, the ballast may be bad.
Boy, that's annoying, isn't it. I think I would take it back and explain what's going on. Take one of your bulbs so they can check it out too. Let us know how you make out.
Okay so i went back today and traded it for a light cycle unit , but the only problem is that the only way it will work is if i hook both of my repti sun 10.0 bulbs into it , im woudering if its too much or will it affect him?
That's good that you took it back. So, you have to have 2 fluorescent tubes in it then, right? If so, you could use the UVB and put just a standard fluorescent bulb in the 2nd fitting. The Repti-Sun tubes are great bulbs so you wouldn't really need two.
You don't really need 2 of that particular bulb though because the bulbs are great. If you just wanted extra lighting, you could use just a standard fluorescent tube.
I would just put in a regular fluorescent bulb. Then you''d have a spare UVB bulb and not be wasting it. I do not think using both UVBs would hurt but it won't help either.
