i have a 3 year old female having problems laying.. i was at work and shes been laying eggs all over but the laybin. the my daughter called me and told me when laying eggs they seem to be breaking as they came out. now shes just laying there and raises her bottom from time to time to lay but nothing comes out.. i dont feel anything but i didnt yesterday either.. please help should i take her to the vet or is there anything i can do for her now to help.
Hi there,
I wouldnt hold out much hope for this clutch, so what I would do is put her in a warm soak for 20 to 30 min for the next couple days. I use a rubbermaid tub with sand and topsoil as my laybin. It gives my girls a safe place to dig and lay. She may not feel secure and is laying in bits and pieces because she has to. Do the long soak and if she seems to be searching for a place to dig put her in a laybin and start the hole for her. She should take over from there.
these are non-fertile eggs. i provided her with a laybin she would dig but she just didnt want in.. she looks ok now after the two eggs and poop... how would i know for sure shes done and she'll be ok with the eggs breaking while half in and out of the vent..
Do the soaks everyday and feed as much as she wants. If she is pooping ok with no troubles I would think she is good, but if you notice anything out of the norm in the next day or so I would get her to a vet to be sure.
im sure she's very tired at this point, pushing all day. I gave her a soak and she started freaking out so i took her out. I now have her in my room nice and quite but she's trying to lay another egg her bottom in the air and her eyes are closed its been like this for about 20 min now. How long shoould i give her to lay. I'm sorry for being a pain but shes really scaring me right now. I have 4 other females and they all just layed in the bin without any problems.
I think that you should take her in to see the vet as soon as possible. She may have some egg binding problems. How many eggs has she laid thus far?
Are you giving extra calcium? Try to give extra oral fluids as well to help her in case she could be dehydrated also.
Is her beard black at all?
Her beard was black lastnight and she never passed the egg she was trying to, however this morning i put her on my chest covered her in a blanket and she passed the egg. I then gave her a bath which she passed another egg.. Of course i have to go to work so i have someone watching her through out the day and they are to call me if she looks like shes trying to push, but i will make an appt. to make sure she has passed all ggs. I do believe its only and x-ray ..yes.
I took her to the vet there were no eggs left, however because she's just waking up and really has not had any calcuim they started her on liquid for 2 weeks .. the vet did say her bones look good its just a precausion
that's her x ray i wish i could make it bigger but i dont know how.
