Hey forum,
I have a concern, I picked up a female beardie from a "reptile enthusiast" who belongs to a herp club. Anyhow he has about 10 dragons running around his backyard surrounded by chicken wire. Needless to say they are not the best dragons i have seen, so i took a small female really thin and dark, as soon as i brought her home i bathe her and her color instantly came alive she is really orange. She began shedding already looks real pretty. I noticed a couple dark spots only on the white places on her like her beard and toes. Is this normal? i dont think its mites she doesnt scratch and they dont appear to be under her scales. The dark spots seem to be on the scales themselves they're not drastic spots just small. any help would be really appreciated.
It's hard to say... they could be normal coloring. Since the previous owner had them outside(on the ground, I assume) it could possibly be dirt. Try using a very soft bristled toothbrush and rubbing the dark spots while she is in the bath to see if they come off.
Depending on this enclosure they were in and the humidity/weather conditions or how much shade they had, there is also the possibility of it being mold or fungus. Try the bath and toothbrush like I mentioned... if the spots do not come off, post a picture for us and we will try and help you figure out what it might be.
