So glad she got the care she needed and is recovering. Good job catching it and getting her help advocating for her through all the issues.

Wishing you the best and hoping she's home with you thriving soon.

Thanks so much 🥺, it was so stressful during Easter holidays and while i was in the worst of my covid too! But knowing this really did save her life made it worth it and I'm grateful to have such a good usual vet who is so responsive. I cannot praise them enough, sincerely.

Praying she all goes well! He did suggest keeping her one more night for some extra fluid therapy which I may do for good measure since she is on antibiotics and had all that mess in her. I'll discuss with them today when they open back up. 🙂

You (and Charlie) are very lucky to have a good vet, that is a very rare commodity. Still sending well wishes her way. 🙂

Thank you 😢 yes I agree we are very lucky. They responded to my email over the Easter break and they took her in and treated her straight away no questions asked. I've heard many horror stories with other vets but these guys are certainly world class can do types. They are specifically exotic animals only. They treat reptiles, birds, rabbits, fish, even someone's rare pet cockroach!

Great news! They said she is doing excellent and there is no need to keep her another night. They are going to just keep her for today then I pick her up at the end of the day, she will be on some injections and oral meds but otherwise they said she looks really great and are not concerned for her discharge. I'll update again after I've gone to pick her up!

We are home ! Charlie looks a little tired, but she was happy to eat a good amt of BSFL as soon as she got home.

We waiting for the histopath of the bad tissue they took out. She didn't show me a picture of that, because apparently it was all black/necrotic! There are a few lesions still inside on the wall of her abdomen of her from where the necrotic tissue somewhat fused on but they think the antibiotics will take care of it as long as the histopath comes back non-cancerous. Prognosis is moderate - guarded pending the histopath. Apparently that's how bad the decaying tissue was 🥺 How could Charlie hide this so well I will never know.

They were also suprised because she's so perky and bright. For now she will have to settle for the bland enclosure until the stitches come out in 2 months. She will have a follow up appointment with the vet in 2 weeks but I feel fairly optimistic to be honest, she looks bright and happy at least. Need to work on her weight though, she dropped to 368 grams ! That's around 50g from her healthy normal!

She is walking around, licking and moving like normal 😂 interested in more bugs. Charlie is certainly something else.

Hello,

That is terrific to see little Charlie at home with you now! :)
She looks really good, nice & colorful. I'm so happy everything has gone so well
for her, & that she's recovering nicely. That is a lot of eggs there!

Her energy was unbelievable 😅 she was licking and trying to climb the walls, and then coming to the front of the enclosure to stare at me. She seemed a bit angry that all her furniture was removed, she kept licking, exploring, then looking at me deadpan while her beard started to tinge slightly black. This wasn't a sick black though, this was no doubt a "what the hell" black LOL. Especially because she would continue to eat more BSFL without any reservation at all when I handed them to her.

She wouldn't go to sleep until I took her out and put her on my chest, where she immediately snuggle wiggled to sleep. Kid you not, her beard went back to bright orange and not a stress line in sight as she just passed out to sleep. I genuinely think she's just downright happy to be home.

Still Charlie, you just had major surgery and scared me to death, please act a little more like it 😂

I feel bad that I've stripped her enclosure though, but instructions clearly state no furniture while she has sutures... but she's such a bright girl, I know she will suffer without the engagement. Any suggestions for a surgery proof habitat ?

Swordtail has been doing a whole lot of "Lizard yoga" lately
Currently trying not to stress over my anemic dragon....she is being treated, but I don't agree with her treatment plan and have been seeking out a second opinion from another vet. If anyone else has dealt with anemia, please let me know how it was resolved. I am losing sleep over this
Another post lol. My beardie does not like enclosures. Her tank is the kids room and she has created a nesting/bed spot in the corner. She will cuddle with my son but she know when the lights are out and the kids go to sleep, she literally goes to her bed like she is our 3rd baby. I love her. And to think, I never wanted a beardie lol
Please help. My beardie is my baby and I am worried she may be egg bound but I can't tell. She is over 2 yrs old and has never laid an egg. She has been swollen for two days and can't tell if she may be impacted or egg bound. Please help.
I'm still looking to adopt. I live near Homerville Georgia.
