If he ate a cockroach in your house it wouldn't have any bearing on the red areas on his head. There are no mites but it's possible that he scratched his head as he tried to push under a rock cave. If that's a problem take it out and use something else for a basking area. The little wounds should heal but put some raw honey or silver cream on it.

Post pics so we can see if its possible mites --- they usually look like red or black specks - or dots - if hes rubbing against that rock hes probably got shed coming on I would remove it and get one that has smoother edges --- or rounder etc --- check Pet Smart for decor they have some nice stuff for dragons
The way you described mites sounds like a possibilit. Please let me know what you think it is. One behavior I noticed is he is staying under the light more then usual.

How close is the light? Is it on top of the screen or inside the tank - you dont want it any closer than 6" - it looks like a possible burn I need AHBD to take a look -

Look on the base of the bulb - it will tell you what wattage it is--- yes raw honey as AHBD posted earlier- you need those digital probe thermometers like yesterday

I wanted to leave a small update. I just finished applying honey onto his wounds (raw honey). I tried looking up online on the steps to take but couldnt find any so please correct my steps if needed. I wet his head with warm water, applied the raw honey on his head, waited 15 minutes and then took him a warm bath afterwards. Am I supposed to leave the honey on for longer? Do I just leave the honey on? How should I go about this?

Fine for ambient temps--- you need this 2 of them asap Zoo Med Reptile Terrarium Digital Thermometer | reptile Humidity & Temperature Control | PetSmart
leave the honey on - do not feed any crickets in the tank - they will go to the wounds and cause more harm- keep applying and watch for results - if your not getting any results please post back on here so we can recommend something else - please look at the wattage on the bulb ---

Thank you for your help. Are you implying I buy 2 of them? If so why? And I will keep applying. I will update as much as I can. If you do not see me updating do not worry, I will be booking down the results in my tablet to post at the end of next week.

Yes one for basking spot and one for the cool side of the tank - they are more accurate - you can use the analog I use 3 types --- analog -- digital probe and a IR gun -- still need the wattage of the basking bulb

Hi there and thanks for the info. The watt is 75. If I am remembering correctly, I had got him a bigger watt because the past watt (50-55) was not warming him up after being under it for 30 mins to an hour. Should I go back down? I have moved his light since (away from the rock so hes not closer to it)
