help! my baby BD pooped out her insides!!

Lately my bearded dragon has been feeling bad.. i don't know what it is?
She has been eating properly and pooping fine..
just yesterday she was eating crickets and today, she had trouble pooping
She pooped out pink stuff like it was from her inside..
Now she has feces stuck in the butt area!!
i'm really scared and i want your advise ASAP!!

I hope you get some other advice but I will go ahead and give you my advice. Get some petroleum jelly and smear on the area, then cover with a loose bandaid. Turn out the lights so she stays quiet. Call an emergency vet as soon as possible. If you can't get an emergencey vet to deal with exotics, take her to your reptile vet or closest reptile vet. Godspeed to you. Your babies life may depend on it. I hope I am wrong and somebody else can provide better advice, but this is what I am thinking.

She needs to go to a vet immediatly there is no other option the longer you wait the higher the risks of infection this happened to my friends dragon it can be repaired threw surgery.

I'd say most likely a built up Impaction or she is Constipated and her feces where hard or built up and too much to push out

It could be a rectal prolapse. I also heard you can put ky jelly on it. The object is to keep it moist until you get him to the vet. They can put it back in if it isn't torn or dried out. Keep us posted. Good luck!!!

Hello,

The causes of prolapse can be from inadequate calcium supplementation making the smooth muscles of the GI tract not function properly, little to no UVB exposure which doesn't allow calcium to properly absorb into the bones, nutritional deficiencies, & dehydration all contribute to prolapses.
If you would like to go over your tank setup let us know & we will make sure it is all setup correctly.
Let us know how things go at the vets.

as for the setup.. i have the 10.0 uvb and i have a tuner so when it night time, i turned it down real low to emphasize "it's night time"
her name is Viper cause she's feisty but i love her to death and it'll kill me if anything happens to her.. she's my little little baby!

Hello,

Yes, it is important that we know which brand of UVB you have, the Reptisun or the Reptiglo?
Also, it is not advised to put your UVB on a dimmer switch. It will ruin the UVB light. You just need to turn the light completely off at night so she can sleep better.
What type of basking light are you using? Do you use calcium regularly?
How is she doing today? Did you get her to a vet yet?

so i went to the local vet ,but they weren't able to see what's wrong with her because the veterinarian didn't know what to do with her.. he only specialized in cats and dogs..

what he did tell us was to take her a shower and put vasoline in her wound so it can either go back in or poop it out
my little viper is a trooper and most of it is going inside and she only has a little piece out.. they also told us they can't do surgery on her cause she's way too small

we are taking her a shower everyday and giving her vasoline
we put calcium in her food and her light brand is reptisun.. i will turn off the light completely but i will also get a night light for them..

friday in the morning i am going to try to take her to another vet to see if they know what i can do or what is causing this..

I am sorry to hear the vet was no help.You still need to get her to another vet but until then and in addition to what the other told you I would like you to do one more thing.I want you to soak your beardie in a cool sugar water solution for 20 minutes at a time several times a day.This sometimes will cause the prolapse swelling to come down and slip back in,althoug its not a permanent fix because it can happen again without vet intervention it will at least buy you more time.I also recommend you do not give him any solid food even if it inverts until he is seen by a vet.You can offer babyfood,chicken,turkey,fruit and veggie) but thats it,ok?

Thats incorrect.If its not necrotic they can actually attempt to reinsert the prolapse and place a stitch in the vent to prevent it from recurring until it heals.How is your beardie today?Did the sugar/water solution help?

as i was getting the sugar solution ready, i looked in the tank and viper passed away ...
but she was a fighter and she knows that we tried our best to give spoil her but wasn't good enough..
today we are going to the vet who actually specializes in lizards to take all our baby BD to get checked up so it won't happen to them either.. we love you Viper, you were beautiful and would have made us supper happy if you were still here
